His Heaven's Grace

What solace this you laid to rest
At Heaven's gate in righteousness
With saints who've gone ahead to peace
As suffering we learn tears
And yearn one more sweet kiss or
Pleasant melody from your lips.

What solace this for a father's eyes
You newly gone to celestial skies;
Now held in a perfect eternal embrace
As you softly sing symphonic strains
For angels' hearts and a Heavenly grace.

What solace this His perfect plan;
The Father's gift was you for a time
Too short for our earthly ears
That cry out for a single measure more
Of your oboe's song clear.

What solace this you gone to a sleep
And peace that we now seek,
And Heaven's door has opened wide
For a moment in time to let eternal you
Descend with your gentlest smile shy.

What solace this our Father's embrace
That we can glimpse His Heaven's grace
And be touched by the One who gives us life;
What solace this to give Him praise
As we in quiet sweet melody seek His face.
